How do I enable SMTP AUTH in for Mac?

To enable SMTP AUTH (outbound email authentication).

  • Open the application (
  • Click "Mail" and select "Preferences"
  • Click the "Accounts" icon and select the "Account Information" tab.
  • Click on the dropdown menu for "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" and select "Edit SMTP Server List...".
  • Select the appropriate account if you have multiple SMTP servers configured.
  • Click "Advanced"
  • Ensure "Use default ports" is selected and the checkbox for "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" is cleared.
  • Set the "Authentication" type to "Password".
  • Enter your full email address for the "User Name".
  • Enter your mailbox password for the email address used above.
  • Click "OK".
Send a test email to ensure your settings have been configured correctly.
