How do I run a traceroute on a Mac OS X?

To run a traceroute on Mac OS X, you must first open the Terminal application.  This can be found in the Applications > Utilities folder.

Click the Terminal icon to open the application, and type: -
traceroute <destination>
and press enter.

The path is then displayed one 'hop' at a time.  If the path begins to produce stars (*), this means that this step of the path is not responding.
