How do I / can I transfer my domain name to Astutium ?

Transferring a domain name to Astutium ...

Our domain name transfer process is mostly online, instant and automated - the steps vary by domain type (TLD) and are explained below for the most common extensions.

While a domain is in the process of being transferred it will show a status of Pending on the My Domains page of the Client Portal

Once the domain has successfully been transferred to us it will change to status of Active, you will recieve an automatic email the instant it completes and then you will be able to manage it online in your Client Portal

Feel free to contact us by support ticket if you have any questions about the status or process of an inward domain transfer to Astutium that you have ordered.

gTLD domains (.com .net .org .biz .info etc) which all use the 'PULL' domain transfer process ca be completed in as little as 2 hours - you will need the unlocked for transfer and be in possession of the transfer code.

  1. UNLOCK the domain with the existing domain name registrar and then
  2. ask the current regsitrar to provide you with the EPP Transfer Code which is needed to authorise the process of transferring the domain between registrars
  3. then go to Incoming gTLD Domain Transfers Page to follow the simple on-screen instructions/steps.

Incoming gTLD and newTLD transfers have multiple steps/confirmations needed by the existing/losing registrar. Once you have accepted their steps to allow the domain to be released - depending entirely on their polcies/processes - it should complete within 5 working days.

The domain will be shown as Pending in the Client Portal while it is waiting for the losing registrar to release it.

The domain will change to Active and you will be notified of the transfer completion as soon as the losing registrar completes their steps.

It is not possible for Astutium to speed the process up (all steps that we are involved in complete instantly) - it is all down to the current (losing) registrar and the registry for that TLD.

Nominet UK domains (.uk .co.uk .org.uk .me.uk .ltd.uk .plc.uk) which use the 'PUSH' domain transfer process and can be completed in as little as 2 minutes

  1. order the inbound domain name to Astutium at Inbound UK Domain Transfers Page and follow the simple on-screen instructions/steps
  2. ask the current registrar to change the TAG (release the domain) to IPS TAG: "ASTUTIUM" - you may have an online system to authenticate or automate this stepat your existing domain company

The domain will be shown as Pending in the Client Portal while it is waiting for the losing registrar to release it.

The domain will change to Active and you will be notified of the transfer completion as soon as they actually update the TAG on the domain to ours - if the domain is not currently showing as Active, then it means the existing tag holder has not yet released the domain to us (despite what they may tell you).

In the rare cases that the losing registrar are unresponsive/uncontactable, you can perform the Tag change directly with Nominet for a small fee (between 10 GBP and 25 GBP +VAT)

Incoming .uk transfers complete the moment there are no delays or confirmations needed by the existing/losing registrar. Once you have accepted their steps to allow the domain to be released - depending entirely on their polcies/processes - it should complete within 5 working days.

For other ccTLDs please order online on the ccTLD Domain Transfers Page and follow any on-screen instructions. Any specific steps then needed will be advised to you directly. ccTLD transfers take an average of a week to complete depending on the losing regstrar processes and the registry systems.
